I Will Pour!

" For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:"                                                                             Isaiah 44:3

The prophet Isaiah looked beyond the current situation in Judah. For more than fifty years, God spoke to the southern kingdom, through the written word of His prophet. Isaiah's prophecy can be divided into two distinct parts: 1.) looking towards the Babylonian captivity, and 2.) looking beyond the Babylonian captivity. Chapters thirty-nine and forty mark the divisions.

In chapter forty-four, God lead Isaiah far into the future of the nation of Israel, and inspired the prophet to pen a simple promise; a promise that stands today as good as the character and integrity of the Promiser! It is nothing less than REVIVAL. "I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring".

Over the centuries, this verse, and many others like it, has been the heart cry of people abandoning themselves to the LORD, in need of REVIVAL. In different locations and time periods around the world, groups, few as they may have been, have plead these promises He has made in His forever settled Word. One such place was on the northwest coast of Scotland: the Outer Hebrides Islands. Some 80 years ago, in a little, unassuming cottage, a handful of saints lay hold on God's promise in Isaiah 44:3. History records what happened!

It must be understood that the promise is conditional. Is there anyone who has a thirst that only Christ can quench? God will do the pouring when He finds a people that are thirsty! O God! make me THIRSTY.
